Les petites morts are those indecipherable psychical impulses, those desires for loss and destruction, reluctantly compensated for by the mastication and ingurgitation of food.

It’s what happens in the stomach of a woman who’s in the head of a diner. It’s the limp social niceties of their fantasies. Two parallel presences whose gestures are sometimes concomitant, as in waking dreams where we are not sure who dreams what or indeed, who dreams who…
