Our dreams of eternity, of communication with the heavens…materialized and dematerialized in a performance installation that plays with the confusion that can arise between a real and a virtual image.

Here we are attempting to fashion the soul into the image of the body. It is a necessary stage before their definitive separation. We may encounter some difficulties on the way, the soul being essentially volatile and always in a hurry to take liberties, to venture alone, far from the restraints of the body. It may also be that it totally escapes us…

Premiered during Bruges 2002, European City of Culture, Katafalk is about the divided, pierced body, liquefied, developing animal protuberances or projected into an unending, painless fall…
