À blanc

An anonymous figure of a woman is at the centre of this performance. She expresses within her all the ambiguity that is contained in war. Stories are weaved, tableau take form, there wherever Madam and her mythology decides to be: a bellowing mother, an oriental pasionaria, an erotic Sybil, a drowning victim, a suspended guardian or a pinned down prisoner.

Humour, nevertheless, is far from absent whilst she scrutinize her vehemence and meets her forgotten animal side head-on. These are fabulated situations where gesture paints our very real violence in imaginary lines.

A Blanc is the fruit of an encounter between Pascale Houbin and Patrick Bonté who have brought together their two different artistic practices, their sensibility and their cultures. More than an exchange, the performance endeavours to reveal the interaction between movement, theatrical intent and the images that unites them.
